An experimental augmented reality app was developed as part of a research project undertaken at City University.

The app reads geo-data points from a database and places labelled 3D icons in an augmented reality space overlaying the camera feed from the phone. Screen shots of the main viewfinder are below...

The app worked in all orientations. As well as the points in the augmented reality space the app showed lists of locations which could be tapped to show more details about the locations. Users could also broadcast their position to the database and therefore make themselves visible to any other app users close to them. Users could also dynamically add points of interest to the database, adding textual descriptions and photos.
